New Year’s Hootenanny 2019

BCYC has added a fabulous new covered deck party platform this year, perfect for the New Year’s Eve Hootenanny. Let’s make it official! Forget the mumbo jumbo of an expensive night on the town and kick back with us, hanging at BCYC. Zero fee for this live entertainment show, as usual. This is free to BCYC members and guests. Come enjoy all it means to be in the club. This is the DIY kick-back casual party at the other end of style from the Installation Banquet. We’ve got all your fun covered at BCYC.
Bring your own cooler; have your own beverages; have your own dinner/snacks. No tickets required, no rules that you can’t have your own stuff. You’ll be glad you brought your own because the flip side of free is nothing is provided. BYO IS the rule. The only exceptions are the champagne for the New Year’s toast will be provided, and the music is free. We do ask that as you party at the DIY Ball, please work it a bit, too. Pick up, clean up, keep it neat, take out a can if you see a full one and you feel like it. ‘Atta boyz’ will be awarded in the follow-up article. Now is your chance to make up for missing all those work days, while you’re having a good evening. And THANK YOU in advance.
Ring out the old and ring in the new with all your best friends and warm live music. We are gathering several acts for your wide eyed entertainment as we kiss 2018 goodbye and hug in the new year with a champagne toast. If you would like to perform a song or several, you can play solo, we will provide back-up, (or fake it) or you form your own group. Just let me know ahead of time so we can plan and/or practice. The New Ibuprofen Band will headline the evening, leading up to the world famous champagne-fueled extremely non-prestigious, yet highly fabulous BCYC New Year’s Eve Lighted Cooler Drop. Say that in one breath! Round out your eclectic evening with the merriment of a glowing electrified wonder of a cooler full of bubbly descending toward your very own glass.
Share the camaraderie around the fire pit, toss on a log, poke some coals. Petticoat Junction is gone ‘round the bend, but we’ve made sure the live fire pit tradition lives on. Remember to bring firewood and kindling. And your favorite poking stick. Those who contribute to the fire earn the right to poke. You pyros know who you are. This is your chance to once again devolve into the therapeutic ‘flame trance.’ Who knows? Maybe a good story or 14 will ensue. Hang around long enough and you’ll hear the history of the club. Or at least their own version, as told by many of our famous duh flag-earners.
Entertainment begins whenever you arrive; (pause for effect,) but officially at 8PM. Maybe earlier if we get enough acts. Arrive early to stake out a good table. The Cooler Drop is at midnight. Open Mic Live Jam Session is after midnight for all of you shy ones fearful to share your talent in prime time. Just come on up and join in. It’s uniquely special, never predictable. Please make a safe transportation plan or simply stay aboard a boat so you don’t have to drive anywhere. As always, gather ‘round the clubhouse on New Year’s morning for the impromptu morning-after gathering. Share some food, coffee and gossip about what happened last night and last year. Relax with friends. You have become a part of the heart of BCYC, the party club with a sailing problem. Remember: You’re not officially a part of BCYC until you’ve done the Hoot.
