NOTICE OF RACE
1 RULES
1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.
1.2 The sailing instructions will consist of the instructions in RRS Appendix S, Standard Sailing instructions, and supplementary sailing instructions that will be on the official notice board located at Boca Ciega Yacht Club.
2 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
2.1 The regatta is open to all Sea Scouts that will not be older than 21 on the date of the William I. Koch International Regatta.
2.2 Eligible participants may enter by completing a registration form andemailing it to jheyne@verizon.net or mailing to Joel Heyne at 5972 6th Ave. So. St. Petersburg, FL, 33707 by October 1st.
2.3 Late entries will not be accepted unless an intent was sent prior to the cutoff date of October 1st.
2.4 Intent to enter should be emailed ASAP .
3 FEES $35.00.
4 QUALIFYING SERIES AND FINAL SERIES
The regatta will consist of a qualifying series and a final series depending on the number of entrees.
5 SCHEDULE
5.1 Registration: Day and date: Friday, October 11 and Saturday morning, October 12 at Boca Ciega Yacht Club.
5.2 Dates of racing: October 12, 2019; October 13, will be a rain date.
5.4 Number of races: TBA
5.5 The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race is 0930 hrs.
6 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
The sailing instructions will be available on the day of racing at Boca Ciega Yacht Club.
7 VENUE The racing will be in Boca Ciega Bay directly out from Boca Ciega Yacht Club.
8 THE COURSES The courses to be sailed will be as follows: Windward Leewards.
9 PENALTY SYSTEM
11.1 The Scoring Penalty, RRS 44.2, will apply.
11.2 RRS 44.1 is changed so that the Two-Turns Penalty is replaced by the One-Turn Penalty.
11.3 Decisions of the protest committee will be final as provided in RRS 70.5.
10 SCORING
12.1 The scoring system is as follows: Low point scoring see Appendix A.
12.2 Three races will qualify as a regatta.
12.3 (a) When fewer than 4 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores.
(b) When more than 5 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.
11 SUPPORT BOATS Support boats shall be marked with a RC flag.
12 PRIZES Prizes will be given as follows: 1st place will qualify for the William I. Koch International Regatta. 2nd place will take the place of the 1st place winner in the event that the 1st place is unable to fulfill their obligation.
13 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. Theorganizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
