Fish & Grab Expedition Saturday February 23, 2019

Our first outing is planned to be an inshore fishing challenge for Sheepshead, Trout, Redfish, Snook and anything else that is legal.  Spotted Sea Trout is the “target” species.  (Redfish & Snook are catch & release only)

See -  https://myfwc.com/fishing/saltwater/recreational/ for details.

We will have a fish fry/grill/bake at the club for participants and guests when we return. Details are;

1.       Preparation -
  • A. Skippers (fishing boat owners) who plan to participate are requested to contact Marty (fish@sailbcyc.org or 813-956-3518) by 2/20 so we can plan on “fleet” size.  Please id the # of crew you can accommodate.   “Stowaways” (fishermen/women crew) are requested to “sign-in” by 2/22 so we can get all on board.  Late arrivals will be accommodated, if at all possible.
  • B.  Appropriate fishing gear for inshore species will be required.  Members unsure of what to bring should check Trending Now posts or contact one of the committee members for advice.  Contact information is below.   The Gulfport Municipal Marina has a pretty good selection of gear for sale.  Some gear will be available for loan by the “old salts” in the group but availability (and condition!) is not guaranteed.
  • C.  Fishing License!  If you are 65 or older & a Florida resident, your Florida photo id is acceptable, otherwise you need a license.  See Florida Fishing Regulations for details.
2.       “Skippers” meeting at 8:30 A.M.  All participants are requested to attend.  Crew will be matched with skippers where necessary.3.       Equipment review at 9 A.M.  Vessels, Gear, Bait, and Charts will be reviewed and potential fishing areas discussed.4.       Fleet underway by 10.5.       Return to BCYC between 4 and 5 P.M. for cleaning of the catch, Fish Tales, and Happy Hour.6.       Cookout preparation begins at 5 P.M.   Participants are requested to bring some salad preparations and desserts.  Publix is open and Save on Seafood is open until 5:30 in the unlikely event that our catch is insufficient to feed participants and guests.  The hat will be passed for contributions.7.       Dinner at 6:30. 8.       MANDATORY cleanup after dinner.

Hope to see you there!
