Monthly Potluck Dinners are sponsored by different members and sometimes have a theme.
Happy hour/appetizers are usually starts around 6:00 pm and dinner is usually "served" at 7:00 pm.
Dear BCYC Members and BCYC Musicians,
We will have 3 professional musicians hosting and augmenting an open mic jam for the September club dinner, 09/21/2019.
Principle is Phil Stokes. However, I feel inspired by Rocky and Bullwinkle, so I will refer to Phil as “Fearless Leader”. He’s an original member of Pure Prairie League. Remember the song “Amy”. That’s him on the original recording. He’s a very nice man, and a very supportive musician. Vocals, bass, guitar, harmonica. Phil recently got off of a national tour called, “American Vinyl”. I’m pretty sure we’ll cover the long version of Amy. So, if you’d like to hear it from one of the original recording artists…
Rick Walker is an excellent professional drummer, bass player, and vocalist. Also, a very nice man and a pure class act.
Eddie Guion: also excellent on Keyboards and vocals. You should hear him do his Ray Charles set, and maybe he will. Also, a true gentleman with a desire for more sailing.
These three wonderful folks have been professional musicians their entire lives / careers. And they really are good.
The focus of the evening is for all to have a good time dancing and listening to the music after dinner, and to have our local musicians join in with the pro’s for even more fun.
Some might feel fear or intimidation playing along with such talent. But I can assure you it will be an easy going time with an attitude of “No musician left behind”. Or right behind either. At any rate there will be no stern warnings.
So, if you’d like to play a few numbers with the band, or if you have some pieces you want to headline with the band playing backup, feel free to do so.
Please contact Guy O’Connor: oconnorguy4@gmail / 813-843-3691 to get your name on the musician sign up sheet and maybe discuss which pieces you’re interested in doing. Or just suit up, show up, and jam if that’s your preference. As far as Mixer and I are concerned, you don’t have to suit up either. Some have already expressed an interest in performing with the pro’s. But even if no additional musicians get on stage, the music will still be excellent and a good time will be had by all. Upbeat dance music will be encouraged. Nothing will be discouraged.
