Every year, we boaters in west central Florida experience about 100 days in which a thunderstorm occurs, and official summer is only 90 days long!  And every year, at least some boaters are caught surprised by dangerous summer weather.  They say things like, "Suddenly the sky was dark and the winds blew like a gale!"

The reality is that storms never appear suddenly.  Boaters are only suddenly aware of them because the signs are often quite subtle to the unknowing sailor.

In this installment of my "Weather For Sailors" series,  you will learn just what the signs are of approaching summer storms - not just the dark, gnarly, growling obvious kind but also the kind that sneak up on you like a mountain lion.

You will learn what it takes to regard as obvious the silent development and approach of dangerous weather that baffles too many boaters.  You will learn some of the secrets of how to plan for winds near showers and storms to a degree not possible from official forecasts.  And ultimately, you will become a safer sailor making better sailing decisions, which is what my presentations are all about.
